Wine…

Let’s put a label on it.

In this project I worked on creating eye catching wine label designs. Do you ever go to the grocery/liquor store and just gawk at all the beautiful (and maybe, not so beautiful) wine label designs? I know I do. To kick this project off I started my brainstorming and inspiration journey in a grocery store aisle.

Some of the key points I wanted on my wine bottle label was the importance of meaning to me, as well as three distinct separate images that all intertwine into one theme. Consistency, cohesion, and familiarity were all top priorities to me.

Start with some sketching

Below are the sketches I began making. Little did I know these sketches were actually more than just sketches and made their way onto the final bottle label design.

Can you guess the single running theme between the three drawings?

Next step, putting it all together

After sketching out the above (and more) I decided it was time to bring my vision alive.

What’s in a name.

William Shakespeare said it best. "That which we call a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet." Well, instead let's gear this towards wine.

Unicuique Sua is a latin word and it means "To each their own". It's not an easy name to say, but it's also a phrase I live by which is why I wanted to incorporate it into these designs.

The final mockups

We have reached the pinnacle of this project. Below are the labels in a real world environment.

Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to view this project! This entire design was a lot of fun for me. It allowed me to both draw from my imagination and also has many hidden meaning in the overall design.
