"Now is no time to think of what you do not have. Think of what you can do with that there is"

- Ernest Hemingway, The Old Man and the Sea

For this project I created a Nobel Prize poster. I chose one of the influential authors that won a Nobel Prize, Ernest Hemingway.

I began with collecting inspiration. Below are photos and drawings I found interesting, I did not do/take any of these.

Making my own inspiration

After being inspired, I began my creating process, allowing myself to draw, make, and create anything that made me think of this book.

Below are images/drawing/models that I did create

Together and all at once, a flat design was born

I found that sometimes the best ideas are the ones that take the most digging. While creating the poster I worked on making a grid but also allowing some chaos to peek through. Some of my keywords during this process were: chaos, refined, consistent, and flow.

I wanted to make sure the viewers eyes flowed properly but also was drawn to the chaos of the background. I made sure to push the contrast so that it felt as if the type was doing it's best to grab your attention.

Poster mockups

We have come to the end of this project. Below are the mockups of the posters.

Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to view this project! Reading has always been an inspiration to me and making this poster helped me understand the importance of flow and structure and how those two dance with one another.
